Green travel
It is time to realize that it matters how we travel. Choose sustainable travel options, including eco-friendly hotels, resorts and other accommodations. Try to choose more fuel-efficient airlines and environmentally friendly transportation for your travels. You want to go on a tour? Choose organic farm tours or sustainable wine tours. Dine in farm-to-table organic restaurants whenever you can. BE AWARE. BE THE CHANGE. TRAVEL ECO.
Change your attitude
It does not mean that you have to cancel your trip you had booked a year ago, but next time you should make a conscious decision which hotel, restaurant, tour or transportation you use. There are many eco-friendly options all over the world so spend time reading. 2017 is officially the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development so it is the best time to act and start thinking differently. You should your attitude about how you wish to travel and what you can do to help raise awareness. When you travel keep an open mind about preserving cultural values and heritage. Also choose experiences that save the environment and protect the natural resources.
Educate yourself
Hotels
Environmentally friendly hotels use green initiatives such as water and energy saving solutions, waste management and recycling. They also reduce carbon emissions by having green (electric or public) transportation and offer bicycle rental. The hotels you book should have eco-friendly purchase policies and support the local communities by employing local workers.
Restaurants, dining facilities
Do your research and dine in restaurants that use local, sustainable farm-to-table and organic produce. Organic restaurants also support local farmers while following green best practices in their establishments.
Transportation
Some airlines bought new fleet of aircrafts that are fuel efficient so they have less carbon emissions. Many transportation companies have started using full electric vehicles.
Tours
Organic agriculture has become a tourist attraction lately not only offering their own natural produces and products but educating visitors about the chemical free farming and how to avoid GMOs, growth hormones, herbicides, pesticides and antibiotics keeping the soil fertile and sustainable.
There are also many tour companies that follow sustainable best practices and do care for the environment and for the community.
So, put your ego aside and enjoy your guilt free trip while contributing to helping the Earth live longer.
